5: Follow-up nomination

Each year, nearly 13,000 candidates open files for admission to West Point. Only about 5,000 receive congressional or service-connected nominations. A nomination is the legal authority for West Point to offer admission and the nomination is independent of the West Point admissions evaluation. It is important that you aggressively pursue every nomination available to you.
